Nisha Rajan is the Senior Policy Coordinator for USISPF in Washington, D.C. Prior to this position, she worked for the U.S. Department of State at the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi as an Economic Specialist. While at the Embassy, she advised the Economic team and the Mission Leadership on India’s trade practices and procedures, also providing interpretation of India’s complex trade regime. During her 28+ years in this role at the Embassy, Nisha worked closely with the U.S. Trade Representative, the U.S. Department of Commerce, and U.S. and Indian industry organizations on all bilateral trade issues. Nisha recommended strategies on the Embassy’s trade outreach program and also planned and arranged robust meetings and events for U.S. delegations and senior officials visiting New Delhi. She worked closely with the Embassy’s Trade Unit Chief to coordinate all activities related to the Trade Policy Forum (TPF) – the bilateral trade dialogue between the United States and India.
As the U.S. Mission India’s U.S.-India trade relationship liaison and coordinator, Nisha’s role was instrumental in launching the U.S.–India Customs Cooperation on WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement initiative in October 2016. She received the Secretary of State Career Achievement Award, Superior Honor Award and several other accolades and awards in recognition of her superior performance. Nisha is originally from New Delhi, India. She is a Graduate in Commerce from Delhi University and a Graduate in Business Administration from the University of DC. Nisha is married and has two sons.
